A downtown Collingwood day with kids
The Saturday market, the Collingwood Museum, and the beach and playground at Sunset Point
An easy, low-cost summer day in town, all walkable or a few minutes apart. Start at the Saturday downtown market for breakfast and berries, poke through the Collingwood Museum, which is admission by donation, then spend the afternoon at Sunset Point Park, where there is a playground, a pebble beach, and a waterfront path out to the Inukshuk. Three stops, all within Collingwood.

Breakfast at the market · Collingwood
Collingwood Downtown Farmers' Market
A Saturday-morning market in downtown Collingwood, every Saturday from the Victoria Day weekend to Thanksgiving, 8:30 to 1, in the lot at Second and Pine. Local growers and makers bring produce, baked goods, cheese and crafts to a busy main-street crowd.
- 2
An hour of history · Collingwood
Collingwood Museum
The town museum sits by the old rail station downtown, tracing local history from the shipbuilding years to the ski hills. Admission is by donation, it is open Monday to Saturday, and it makes an easy indoor hour between the market and the waterfront.
- 3
Beach and playground
Sunset Point
A waterfront park at the north end of Collingwood with a pebble beach, a playground, big lawns, and a flat path along Georgian Bay out to an Inukshuk. A calm spot for a picnic, a paddle, or a sunset; parking is paid in season.
Before you go
- The downtown market is Saturday mornings, 8:30 to 1; on other days start at the museum instead.
- The Collingwood Museum is admission by donation, about $5 a person suggested, open Monday to Saturday 10 to 4.
- Sunset Point has paid waterfront parking from 9 to 9, and the beach is pebbles, so bring water shoes.
- Georgian Bay is cool into early summer, so it is a wading-and-playground stop in late June more than a swim.
- Everything here is close together, so it is an easy half or full day with small kids.
