Sponsor the Almanac
The Home Almanac is read by people doing one specific thing: planning a real job around their home and the season, in a particular town. We keep the premium placements clean. A sponsor here is a single name beside a tool somebody came to use, set after the answer, never on top of it and never lost in a wall of banners. If that is the kind of place you want your business, here is how it works.
Who reads it
Homeowners and renters across Canada, looking up the frost date for their town, when to open the pool, what a permit costs, how long solar takes to pay back. They arrive with intent and a place. The person on the water page is about to buy a softener. The person on the solar estimator is pricing panels. That is who a sponsor reaches here: not a broad audience, a relevant one, at the moment it matters.
There is no rate card pinned to a vanity number, because the audience for the frost calendar is not the audience for the moving planner. Tell us the tool or the town you care about and we will tell you how many people it reaches and when, in plain numbers, before you decide anything.
What you can sponsor
A single tool
One named sponsor on one tool or calculator.
Your name and one honest line below the answer. A well driller under the water test, a garden centre on the planting calendar, a roofer on the ice-dam guide. One sponsor, one tool, no one else.
A season
A cluster of related tools, for the season that fits you.
The garden tools through spring, the snow and heating tools through winter, the pool and lawn tools through summer. One sponsor across the whole set, the way the old almanacs carried one name for a season.
Your town
The local pages for a single town or region.
For a business that serves one place. Your name on the pages people in your town actually open, from the local frost dates to the local permit rules.
For trades: we can send you the customer
On the tools where someone is about to hire (solar, heating and cooling, water, roofing, moving), we can place a short quote form. The reader asks for an introduction, you pay for the introduction, and we tell them exactly who will contact them before they ever submit. No bought lists, no surprises.
What it costs
Founding sponsorships start at $150 a month and run by the season. The exact rate depends on the tool or town and how many people it reaches, so we quote it per placement instead of printing a number that would be wrong for half the pages. Early sponsors get the founding rate and keep it as the Almanac grows. There is no minimum beyond a season, and no ad for you to design: we write the credit in the Almanac's plain voice and show it to you before it goes up.
The rules, in plain language
- One sponsor per page. The premium slot is yours alone, never a junk banner exchange.
- The credit sits after the answer, never in front of it.
- The dates, the law summaries, and the advice are never for sale. No payment changes a date or a recommendation.
- No pop-ups, no countdown timers, no auto-playing anything, ever.
- Every sponsorship is labelled "Sponsored by" in plain words, where it appears.
- The subscribed calendar feed and the email never carry a sponsor of any kind.
- If a sponsor ever asks us to bend these, we lose the sponsor, not the rule.
These are the same rules every dollar here lives under. The full version, including the ads policy and the ad-free option, is on the funding page.
A sentence or two is plenty. We read every one and reply from a real address, usually within a day or two. Nothing here is a commitment.
