Indian River Acres

Mark S. Burnham Provincial Park
A small day-use park protecting a stand of old-growth hardwood: sugar maple, beech, elm and hemlock, some of the oldest trees in Ontario, walked on two interconnected loops of roughly two and a half kilometres. One sugar maple here is reckoned to be over 300 years old.

A local landmark · Peterborough
Peterborough Lift Lock
The highest hydraulic lift lock in the world, raising boats nearly 20 metres in two counter-balanced water-filled chambers, one rising as the other drops. Built in 1904 of unreinforced concrete and still working on the Trent-Severn; watch a cycle from the viewing area.

Shop and refuel · Peterborough
Peterborough Regional Farmers' Market
A Morrow Park market where most vendors are inspection-verified primary producers selling fruit, vegetables, eggs, meat, honey and nursery stock alongside bakers and prepared-food stalls. Runs outdoors in the warm months and moves indoors for winter.
