Ingredients
- 8 cups peeled sliced apples
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup cold butter, cubed
- 1/4 tsp salt
Steps
- Heat the oven to 190 C (375 F) and butter a 9 by 13 inch baking dish.
- Toss the apples with granulated sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch, and cinnamon in the dish.
- Rub the oats, flour, brown sugar, butter, and salt together until the mixture forms clumps.
- Scatter the topping over the apples in an even layer.
- Bake 40 to 45 minutes, until the apples are tender and the topping is browned.
- Cool 15 minutes before serving so the juices thicken.
Notes
Use a mix of tart and sweet baking apples for better flavour and texture.
