Identify before you treat

A weed plan starts with the plant. Crabgrass points to timing and thin turf, clover often points to low nitrogen, and plantain often points to compacted soil. The right ID keeps you from treating the wrong problem.

Weed ID questions

What weed photo works best?

Photograph the leaf shape, flower, and growth habit if possible. A close lawn patch plus one pulled plant works well.

Will it tell me what herbicide to use?

No. It gives likely candidates and links to seasonal lawn tools. Check local rules and product labels before treating a lawn or bed.

Why does season matter for weeds?

Crabgrass, dandelion, clover, and plantain peak at different times. The same green patch means different things in April and August.
